“I love cloud computing!” Makes the old ways of buying too much hardware, and buying or installing too much software sound “beeper-easque!” Now, the popular online bookstore has taken software-as-a-service (SaaS) in their realms by eliminating clunky downloads and complicated installations and simply putting the book-reading app on the web.
The beta version of Amazon’s new web app is now available when you browse the online bookstore’s site. Using the popularity of their e-book device, “Kindle for the Web” allows you to read the first chapter of any book and share samples with your online network by e-mail or popular social networks. In fact, you can embed a book sample in your blog or website and earn referral fees on sales – awesome!
Whenever you’re browsing Amazon and hit upon a book product, you’ll notice a “Read first chapter FREE” button on selected Amazon book overview pages. Clicking on that opens a new browser window containing the book sample. To buy the full Kindle edition of the book from the sample screen, click the “Get Kindle Edition” button. You may then choose to download the book to your Kindle or other Kindle reading application.
Book samples can be made visible on any website that supports embedded content. If you can add script tags to your site or blog, you can post a sample. You may also share book samples via email, Facebook, or Twitter by clicking the “Share” button on the right side of the sample screen.
