Ubisoft has officially pushed the release date of the beta test back to October 4th, 2010. Depending on players’ feedback, this gives Ubisoft about 4 weeks to fine tune the multiplayer component to Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.

Originally announced to launch on September 13th, the beta will boast a total of nine different assassins (featuring the executioner, courtesan, priest, and doctor), two game modes (Wanted and Alliance), and the maps Rome and Castel Gandolfo. The beta, while exclusive to the PlayStation 3, isn’t limited to any particular version you’ve preordered at Gamestop (or any other retailer for our Euro-Ranters). The “Wanted” game mode sounds like your standard deathmatch fair, as you compete to be the first assassin to achieve the required number of kills. “Alliance” sounds more interesting, as it will have players obtaining and completing kill contracts. Brotherhood’s multiplayer component will support up to eight players at once. 

In a one-two punch of bad news, it seems as if the PC version of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood will be launching next year. Although Ubisoft Montreal’s Community Developer Gabriel Graziani has been coy on his Twitter account (making a point to note that a PC date has yet to be announced), Ubisoft has traditionally released PC versions of it’s Assassin’s games some four to seven months after the console versions. With that in mind, a 2011 PC release should come as no shock to those who prefer that platform. 

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood follows the story of Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Not much is known of the plot, but it begins with Ezio’s home being attacked. Originally debuting on the iPhone/iPod touch, Brotherhood will be the second title in the series to ship with a multiplayer component. Being the follow-up to my personal favorite game of last year, Brotherhood‘s been on my radar since it was first announced, and I can’t wait for October to arrive so I can assassinate some templars with my friends. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood launches on November 16th in North America, November 18th in Australia, and November 19th in Europe on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. PC release date is currently unknown
